  • Why does ScoutDoc show me the world map when I open a new Maps ScoutDoc report?
    • The Map is set to always open the page of the world, however, it should always show where you are with the blue dot. If you want to go to your location instantly, tap the arrow button on the top right and it will zoom in on your location.
  • What is a ScoutDoc Template? Why should I use it?
    • The template function is designed to save you time. If you visit a specific farm or field multiple times, you don’t have to re-enter all the static information. The ability to create a template for each client, farm or field helps save time. When you open a saved template for a farm or field, you’re ready to start scouting and documenting the new, essential information.
  • Why doesn’t ScoutDoc have drop-down lists of weeds/insects/diseases?
    • We don't offer drop-down lists for weeds, insects or diseases as a basic function of the app. We have found in our research that compiling and supplying these lists to accommodate a global marketplace would be unrealistic, and potentially inaccurate for any specific geographic location. Though we can create a custom version of ScoutDoc for companies who are interested in having this feature.
  • Can files be shared among ScoutDoc users?
    • ScoutDoc users are able to email files between eachother. ScoutDoc Cloud members, who are associated with the same company in our system, are able view eachother's files. Contact us if this is your case as we may need to customize your account.
  • Can multiple fields be entered in one file?
    • ScoutDoc was built around the concept of one field per file. It is possible to draw multiple fields in one file, however the system is setup to essentially only allow input of one field's data in a file.
  • Can you make me a customized version of ScoutDoc with specific features?
    • Sure can! Email us through our contact page and someone will get back to you in 24 hours to discuss options.
  • There’s no Save button – what the heck?
    • ScoutDoc auto-saves every time you type or change anything within your document. One less thing to worry about!
  • Can the report be edited to make changes on a PC in the office?
    • The report can be emailed in two formats: the ScoutDoc Report (.sdr) format as well as a PDF. If you have Adobe Acrobat or another PDF editor, you can add comments/notes to the PDF report but not if you have the basic Adobe Reader. The .sdr file is only able to be edited from within ScoutDoc.
  • How large are ScoutDoc report files? How much memory will they take up on my iPad?
    • Each PDF and ScoutDoc report file varies according to how much data you input. If you include images in the report, it will make the file larger. However, the reports are typically under 2 MB.
  • Does it matter whether my iPad is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile network?
    • ScoutDoc works with both Wi-Fi and mobile network connections. It also requires GPS to automatically locate you. The app can run without these connections, however some functionality will be limited. A Wi-Fi or mobile connection is required to email reports and to sync your data with ScoutDoc Cloud, but not for capturing data within the app.
  • Do you have a trial version of ScoutDoc?
    • We don’t offer trial versions of the ScoutDoc app at this time but we do have a video and app demo to show functionality, available here. We have dozens of screenshots that illustrate how the app works and if you still have questions, email us at support@scoutdoc.com and we’ll help you out! There is a trial version of ScoutDoc Cloud available once you have purchased the app.
  • This app doesn’t do what I want. Can you give me my money back?
    • Due to the involvement of the app stores, we can't issue you a refund. However, you can apply through the app store for a refund. Apple has a variety of restrictions around their refunds, while Google will instantly refund you within 15 minutes of purchasing the app, with additional stipulations for longer periods of time.
  • I deleted my ScoutDoc App by accident. Do I have to pay again to restore it?
    • Absolutely not! That wouldn’t be fair, would it? App stores track and store your purchases, so you simply need to go back there using the same account you purchased the app with and re-download the app.
  • Why aren’t the pin drops GPS-activated? Why doesn't ScoutDoc put the point where I am making the observation?
    • The pin gets placed in the middle of your iPad screen. You can touch and drag the pin to your current GPS location (the blue dot). If you would like to know your current GPS location, tap the arrow button on the top right corner and it will show your location. Then you can touch and drag the pin drop to the same spot. The reason the pin drops aren’t GPS activated is because if you open your ScoutDoc document on your iPad in a new location (say, your office) and tap on the observation pin drop, it will relocate it to your new position.
  • Where did the "save as" option go?
    • Your document is now saved automatically. If you would like to create a document for the same grower/farm/field you can use the new template feature. On the “create new document” screen, tap the Select Template button. This allows you to select an existing document and will copy the grower/farm/field to be used in the new document.
  • How do I set up templates?
    • To use the app efficiently and save time in the field it is a good idea to create a template for each grower and field. Name the file as a template (ie. JonesFarm-field2-template) and fill in the grower/farm/field. When you want to create a new document for that same grower/farm/field, ‎use the "Select Template" button at the top of the Create New ScoutDoc menu box. It will allow you to select the appropriate template file and start scouting without having to enter that information.
  • Can I import and export my data?
    • At this time, importing data is not available in ScoutDoc. Data export is available to Scoutdoc cloud members, who are able to export their synced records, using our browser based interface, in .csv format currently.
  • Do you have a Microsoft compatible app? Or a phone friendly app?
    • At this time developing a Microsoft based app is not one of our priorities. Currently, we do not have a phone compatible version of the app.
