ScoutDoc app takes field scouting to the Cloud

New ScoutDoc Cloud data storage service makes it easy to sync, archive, export, and analyse field scouting reports.

Guelph, Ontario, February 6, 2014 - ScoutDoc, a leading field scouting app, is making mobile field scouting faster, easier and more valuable for farmers and agronomists.

With the launch of ScoutDoc Cloud, farmers and agronomists who use the GPS-enabled ScoutDoc app, can now add cloud-based storage to sync, archive, export, and analyse field scouting reports.

With ScoutDoc Cloud, app users can sync their existing files with their ScoutDoc account for easy report exporting, organizing and archiving. "Cloud-based storage allows ScoutDoc users to be more mobile and more nimble with their information," says Peter Gredig, a partner in AgNition, the maker of the app. "It makes it easier to analyse information and share it with clients or members of your agronomy team, whether they are mobile or at a desktop computer."

ScoutDoc Cloud also allows users to export data in Excel compatible CSV format to perform valuable data analysis and also sort and search using multiple fields including weeds, insects, diseases as well as farmer name, scout name, crop and date.

"You can have previous years' field records in the cloud and current year's data on your iPad," adds Gredig. "That makes it easy to compare what you're seeing right there in the field with past years' records. And it doesn't tie up memory on your tablet."

Agronomist Deb Campbell has used ScoutDoc for the past two years. "From a workload standpoint, it has been a phenomenal tool for me. The biggest benefit is the mobile platform. It lets me capture stats, numbers and observations in the field and get it turned around quickly to my clients. As I'm driving out of the field, I can send an email and they have their actions, their reports and everybody is moving forward in a very timely manner."

Campbell, who owns and operates Dundalk, Ontario-based Agronomy Advantage consulting, believes ScoutDoc Cloud will help her team be more efficient. "It will allow each team member to go to the cloud and tap into the same information rather than having it stored on three different mobile devices," she says.

"Being able to export data will also give us the ability to drill down into the information, sort through it and pull our useful nuggets to build crop plans for the next year. That's very important," adds Campbell.

GPS-enabled ScoutDoc for iPad is available for $79.99. An android version will be released later in 2014. ScoutDoc Cloud costs $99.99 per year and provides unlimited file transfers between your iPad and the cloud. A 15-day free trial is available for ScoutDoc Cloud.
